Abstract
Le Temps Brûlé is a novel written in the form of a diary. Its author is a sixteen-year-old giri named Claudine, who, from the very first page, opens up to the reader and establishes a bond with him as a resuit of her candidness and her sincerity. Having established contact with the reader, Claudine goes on to engage him in the story of her ongoing life. The story begins shortiy before Claudine's sixteenth birthday and takes us through the next three years of her life. In the opening pages, Claudine finds herself mourning the death of her friend, Anaïs (who, perhaps, committed suicide), as well as the loss of Justin and Daniel, two other friends who seem to have abandoned her. She is, at this point, in a somewhat dark mood, dwelling more on the past than living actively in the présent. She even has thoughts of death, wishing to "disparaître de la surface de la planète…
