Effet de l'interaction dynamique linéaire et non-linéaire sol-structure : application aux pylônes de transport d'énergie

Abstract

Dans la pratique, tel qu'il est reflété par les normes, la fondation des pylônes de transport d'énergie électrique est supposée être encastrée à la structure en négligeant toute forme d'interaction. Réellement, les pylônes d'énergie électrique sont des structures conçues pour supporter des charges dynamiques importantes et des conditions climatiques extrêmes. De ce fait, la prise en compte de l'interaction sol-structure dans leur calcul s'avère une approche plus réaliste. L'objectif principal de ce travail est d'évaluer l'effet de l'interaction sur le comportement dynamique d'un pylône d'énergie électrique. Une revue bibliographique abondante a été faite pour mettre le point sur les différentes notions traitées. L'étape fondamentale était la détermination des éléments de liaison entre le sol et la structure. Ces éléments ont été développés numériquement à l'aide du code de calcul FLAC. Le comportement de la fondation a été supposée linéaire au début. Plusieurs cas ont été simulés dont un sol homogène avec une vitesse de cisaillement constante ainsi que des sols à deux ou à plusieurs couches avec une vitesse de cisaillement variable. Une profondeur équivalente à partir de laquelle l'effet de l'interaction pourra être capturé a été proposée. Une étude paramétrique a été menée sur un modèle simplifié d'un pylône. La réponse d'un pylône à base rigide a été comparée à celle à base flexible. Des calculs fréquentiels et temporels transitoires ont été faits. Les propriétés dynamiques équivalentes du système sol-structure proposé ont été déterminées moyennant des formules analytiques dépendant de la géométrie et des propriétés mécaniques du système. Le spectre de réponse a été utilisé pour prédire l'effet de l'interaction dans le cas d'un chargement impulsif. Dans le cas de la charge du vent, les résultats numériques ont été comparés aux résultats de la méthode stochastique. Un cas réel d'un pylône réel à faible voltage a été simulé. Dans une deuxième étape de ce travail, les non-linéarités liées aux comportement de la fondation ont été considérées. Le comportement non-linéaire de la fondation a été simulé numériquement. Le résultat obtenu a été comparé à celui des essais expérimentaux faits par Hydro-Québec. Il a été montré, dans ce doctorat, l'importance de la prise en compte de l'interaction qui est généralement bénéfique à moins d'une amplification dynamique de la réponse. La non considération de non-linéarité surestime légèrement l'effet de l'interaction sol-structure sur la réponse du système. L'approche non-linéaire montre les limites de l'approche qui suppose le comportement de la fondation purement linéaire.

Abstract : In traditional transmission line design, the structures and the foundations are separated. The structures are designed assuming fixity at foundation, and the foundation reactions found in this analysis are used to design the foundation itself. Criteria on maximum displacement at top of the foundation complete the design of foundations and this displacement is often used to design structures with a foundation settlement loading case. Very few studies have tried to combine the structural and foundation behaviour in a "system" approach considering the soil-structure interaction (SSI) in the case of transmission towers. This is one of the main objectives of this thesis. In the first part, the behaviour of the foundation is supposed to be linear, the soil is replaced by dynamic frequency dependent and complex impedances obtained from numerical simulations with FLAC software. The behaviour of a simplified structure and a latticed transmission tower modeled with ADINA software is studied under typical broken conductor dynamic impact and wind loading. Frequency and time domain analysis were performed by varying the values of soil stiffness and damping. Due to the random nature of wind, three series were generated with different wind turbulence intensities. In the case of wind and impulsive loads, the difference between considering a rigid base and flexible supports at the base of structures is illustrated to show the great importance of considering SSI. This difference is more significant for cohesive soils than granular media and it depends on the type of loading. The results confirm currently prevailing view in structural engineering for a beneficial role of SSI. In the second part of the thesis, the non-linear behaviour of the foundation is considered. Indeed, the towers foundations may be subject to uplift loads. The nonlinear soil-foundation behaviour under static incremental and cyclic loadings is studied. The nonlinear behaviour is associated with large deformations due to base uplifting. Soil behaviour is represented with the elastoplastic Mohr-Coulomb model in the case of incremental loading. Hysteretic sigmoidal damping is added in the case of cyclic loading to reflect the energy dissipation caused by loading and unloading. The models are simulated with the software FLAC. The obtained load-displacement curves are compared to experimental results realized by Hydro-Quebec. This comparison needs a good identification of the soil parameters introduced in the code. The numerical results are in good agreement with the experimental tests. The simulated models provide reasonable estimate of load-displacement behaviour. It was observed that a foundation displacement about 25 mm is acceptable. The uplifting occurs when the foundation displacement reaches 50mm.
