Étude de la compressibilité à long terme des matériaux organiques les sous produits des résidus de désencrage
The present project had for objective the study of the compressibility of the organic materials, namely the consolidation and the long-term fluage of the sludge paper. The purpose consists in demonstrating the technical feasibility of this new geotechnical material generated during the operations of recycling of the paper and which is used in the covering of the parks with residues mining to control acid mining drainage, and in the final sanitary covering of nuclear dumps. Held account that these residues are constituted mainly by some organic matter, this last one evolves in the time under the process of the biodegradation, this phenomenon is translated by a loss of mass which has two constituents: A loss of mass by lixiviation further to the drainage of the water on the membrane formed by these sludge paper and a loss of mass by production of gases, such as the dioxide of carbon, the methane and the oxygen in weak proportion. This process of biodegradation which is dependent on several parameters as the percentage of the organic matter in residues, their moisture contents, their saturations, their permeability etc., is going to affect the long-term creep. Indeed it participates in the increase of the creep, so the final collapse of these sludge paper will be increased. One noted during a follow-up more than 3 years, than the final collapse of both types of residues (Kingsey Falls and Perkins), under a load of 10 KPa, was of the order of 22%, and than chief warrant officer part of this collapse was explained by the loss of mass by lixiviation. Finally, in spite of the impact of this phenomenon of biodegradation, the use of this new geotechnical material seems very promising, because she allows better one valuation and management of an enormous quantity of sludge paper generated by the industry paper-maker in Quebec.
